Shag hairstyle for curly hair? What do I tell the barber to do?

I have long curly/wavy hair, it get's stiff after it dries. I want to get the shag, what do I ask the barber to do to turn it into the shag. What do I tell him/her to cut? And what products can I use to keep my hair bouncy instead of stiff. I want a bouncy shag, not a lame frozen one lol.

OMG! The shag is something quite different, and you would really get into a lot of trouble if you used that name! That just shows again that you never give names to cuts or styles, since they are easy to misinterpret.

It's a fairly basic cut, with some layering, and because it is very thick and curly, it will look that way. The cut is of prime importance.

Then you need to get your hair in that shape. If it is stiff, you are using the wrong shampoo most definitely, and are probably using incorrect technique, and you are not using a conditioner. All of these things can be rectified. I'd recommend Redken or Nexxus or Focus21 products since they are the nicest to hair. It may take a little while to return your hair to a proper state.
