Hairstyles for curly hair? please answer :)?

i have thick curly hair that goes quite poofy and frizzy, i usually tie the top half up and leave the bottom half down curly.

i want to try some new hairstyles (both hair up and hair down) that look good with curly hair... if anyone has any suggestions or ideas? links would be good too, and instructions on how to do them.

thanks xHairstyles for curly hair? please answer :)?
- Side parted hair with the front section clipped to the side. I like to use little jaw clips, but bobby pins will work if your hair isn't too thick.

- Flipped through pony tail. Put your hair in a loose pony tail. Reach up under the pony tail and separate the hair there into two sections. Use your other hand to twist the tail and then pull it through from the bottom.

- French ponytail. Put the top section of your hair (above ears) into a ponytail. Next, put the middle into a pony. Then put the bottom into a pony. This looks less kiddy if you do it looser with pretty clips.

- Braids and buns are simple and can disguise bad hair days. If your hair is too short for a single braid, try pigtails. http://www.wikihow.com/Braid-Hair

-French braid headband. This works for leaving the hair down or up and is quicker than a real one. http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-French-Bra

There's also a book out there with hair styles specifically for curls called ';Strictly Curls'; by Nicole Siri. http://www.strictlycurls.com/

I know EXACTLY what you mean, but i've learned to love my curls, and its not that hard to make them look nice. :)

one thing you can try is straightening some parts, you don't always have to straighten the whole thing, just around the bottom so your curls aren't as poofy.

also using a mousse helps a LOT with the poofy issue. i use Aussie catch the wave, mousse and leave in conditioner with flexible hold. use it when your hair is damp or dry, and put it mostly at the roots and then spread some throughout you hair. it is truly magic. :)

one thing i think helps a lot is too never blow dry your hair and brush it if you want it curly. brushing it makes it poof a lot. It sounds kind of crazy but just don't brush your hair, comb through it with your fingers, and if its already dried, then get it a little wet and add mouse or a very flexible hair spray to hold the curls without letting them get crunchy.

as for styles, try these:

-a side part with one of the sides pulled back and hooked above your ear with a bobby pin

-poofing the front part of your hair in the center or a little off to the side (don't tease it though, it causes frizz and its very unhealthy)

-or just a cute little high ponytail with your curls all cute in the back, you can get away with ponytails once in a while, just try using neutral colored hair ties that blend with your natural hair color, it looks really classy

sorry about the looong answer, bu i hope i helped my fellow curly cue :)
lol i just started getting use to my curly hair lol im 25% black so mine is VERY frizzy. but when ur in the shower put in coditioner and pick thru it then wash out, as soon as u get out of the shower take a towled and very lightley squeeze the ends all the way up to the roots, then put back into a loose high ponytail! they r VERY cute. also do the same thing if you want to wear your hair down, except just part it nicely!! good luck!
I have the same problem! I usually just pull mine half up but that's geting annoying doing that all the time!
